About us
We are two maths students. We enjoy talking about the numbers behind money, and showing that there is nothing mystical hiding in them.
How it started
We both study mathematics. Questions like “should I pay my mortgage off early?”, “how much of my gross salary do I actually keep?” or “how much of that did inflation eat?” had been coming at us from friends and family for years, and every one of them could be answered with a single table and a single formula.
The first answers went out on Instagram. It quickly turned out that people do not only want the result. They want to know where it comes from: what exactly is being calculated, what goes into the formula, and what happens when one number changes.
Finančná Logika is those conversations, continued at a larger scale. A calculator that spits out one number teaches nobody anything, so with every one of them we also show the formula, the values filled in, the calculation step by step, and a chart. The goal is not for you to trust us. The goal is for you to be able to work it out yourself.
Where you may know us from
The two Instagram posts we introduced ourselves with. They open on Instagram in a new window.
Our mission
Finančná Logika exists so that everyone who speaks Slovak has access to the financial knowledge they need to make decisions about their own life, whatever their background, their income, or their formal education.
Slovakia has no trusted, high-quality, free source of financial education. Banks publish content that serves their products. Media publish content that serves clicks. Universities publish content that serves academic careers. Not one of them serves the learner first.
This platform does one thing: it explains finance clearly, accurately and completely, from the basics of percentages to the mathematics of bond duration and mortality modelling, in Slovak, for free, with no hidden agenda.
We do not want to be the most popular finance website in Slovakia. We want to be the one that deserves the most trust.
Three principles, one goal
Financial education is missing in Slovakia. Our goal is not another aggregator of articles. It is a platform that genuinely explains.
Understand
Every concept starts from the ground up, assuming no prior knowledge. If we use a technical term, we define it on the spot. No shortcuts at the cost of clarity.
Calculate
The interactive calculators do not only show a result. They show the working, the formula with your values in it, and a chart. You see what moves the result and why, not just what it is.
Apply
Every topic carries a real example from the Slovak context, not abstract numbers out of an American textbook. Connecting theory to practice is part of every piece of content.
What we cover
Eight areas we intend to be a reliable source on. Every article, term and calculator belongs to at least one of them.
- Personal finance
- Budgeting, saving, debt, consumer credit, banking products, tax basics and an emergency fund. The entry point to everything else.
- Investing
- From what a share actually is, to the mathematics of building a portfolio and what the evidence says about individual strategies.
- Financial mathematics
- Time value of money, discounting, annuities, NPV and IRR, bond pricing. The language every financial product is ultimately defined in.
- Insurance
- How insurance is priced, how products are put together, and what to look at before signing one.
- Actuarial science
- Life tables, reserves and premiums under classical life insurance mathematics. Nothing else covers this in Slovak at this level.
- Economics
- Inflation, ECB rates, the economic cycle and exchange rates. The context without which the other areas cannot be read correctly.
- Risk management
- What risk is, how it is measured and how it is handled, from standard deviation to Value at Risk and stress testing.
- Statistics in finance
- Distributions, correlation, regression and simulation. What gives the other areas their mathematical precision.
Who we write for
Every piece is written for one or two specific groups of readers. Content meant to suit everybody serves nobody.
- Secondary school student
- A first encounter with terms like inflation or interest, usually through school or plain curiosity.
- University student
- Facing the first real decisions: an account, a first salary, a student loan, sometimes a financial mathematics exam.
- Beginner investor
- A stable income and first thoughts about building wealth, plus plenty of questions they are embarrassed to ask.
- Experienced investor
- Long past the basics and wanting to go deeper than popular finance content allows.
- Financial adviser
- Uses the platform as a reference, and as material that actually explains something to a client.
- Insurance professional
- Needs to understand the technical basis of the products and pass it on accurately.
- Actuary
- Looking for a reference, and for a way to explain a complex idea to non-actuarial colleagues.
- Curious reader
- Arrived with a single question from the evening news and wants an honest answer to it.
What we stand behind
Every formula is verified
We do not take formulas off the internet. Each is checked against a financial mathematics textbook or an official specification and tested against examples with a known answer. A formula that returns a wrong result is worse than no formula.
Every number has a source
We publish no statistic without a source. If we state the average wage or the contribution rates, you can look it up: at ŠÚ SR, the NBS or Eurostat.
Slovak numbers
Examples use the figures that actually apply here: the average wage, the contribution rates, current mortgage rates. A converted foreign example is the fastest route to a wrong answer.
Numbers age, so we date them
Rates, tax bands and limits change, so content that rests on them carries a date and gets revisited. If you find an error, write to us: we will fix it and say what changed.
What you will never find here
These are not guidelines but limits. Breaking one of them costs exactly the trust the whole platform rests on.
Financial advice
We will never tell you what to do with your money. We explain the concept, show the calculation, and leave the decision to you.
Speculation and forecasts
Market predictions and price targets are entertainment, not education. If a model forecasts something, we state the assumptions and the uncertainty first.
Product recommendations
We do not name, compare or recommend specific funds, policies, banks or brokers. We explain the category and the questions worth asking.
Clickbait
A headline says what the text teaches, not how you should feel about it. No fear, no urgency, no “how to get rich in five years”.
Who we are
Two people stand behind the content. Every article carries its author's name, and clicking it brings you here.

Michal
Maths student · co-founder
Works on the financial mathematics and on turning a formula into a calculator that stays correct at the edges too. Writes mostly about interest, mortgages and how net salary is calculated.

David
Maths student · co-founder
Interested in economics, investing, and in explaining a complicated thing in plain language without it losing precision. Looks after the encyclopedia of terms and the articles.
